EMC Downtown Park

EMC Downtown Park is a recently developed urban green space located in downtown Des Moines, Iowa. The park opened in June 2023 and is situated near the Greater Des Moines Partnership building in the downtown area. This "pocket park" was designed to serve as a recreational area for the central business district, catering to over 2,400 residents who live within a 10-minute walk of the park.

The park was created on the former site of a Younkers department store, demonstrating EMC Insurance Companies' commitment to enhancing the downtown area. It was developed as a partnership between EMC and Des Moines Parks and Recreation, aiming to provide a much-needed outdoor space in the heart of the city.

EMC Downtown Park features a variety of amenities designed to accommodate different activities and age groups. The park includes sports facilities, seating areas, landscaping elements, and public art installations. Its design aims to create a balance between active recreation and passive enjoyment, offering residents and workers in the area a place to relax, exercise, or socialize.
