Acquired in 1972 under the "Parks-in-Cities" program, the park is named after Colonel Marshall Mortimer Murdock, a prominent figure in Wichita's history who was the founder of the *Wichita Eagle*, a state senator, and a postmaster. This 10-acre park provides a welcoming environment for recreation, relaxation, and community gatherings.
The park features a variety of amenities catering to different recreational interests. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy a basketball/multi-use court, a softball diamond, and two tennis courts, which include lighting for extended play hours.
