About Toonerville Trolley Park in Louisville
Toonerville Trolley Park is a small urban park located in the Old Louisville neighborhood of Louisville, Kentucky. Established in 1978, this 2-acre park sits at the intersection of Brook and Oak streets, providing a green space for local residents and visitors.
The park features a compact layout with the majority of its area tucked between surrounding houses. Despite its modest size, Toonerville Trolley Park offers several recreational amenities for the community. The park includes a small playground for children and a tennis court, allowing visitors to engage in physical activities.
One of the park's notable features is Louisville's only urban dog run, making it a popular spot for dog owners in the area. The dog run consists of two 100' x 115' areas, one built over an old tennis court and another on a grassy section at the back of the park. This facility provides a safe, enclosed space for dogs to exercise and socialize off-leash.
Toonerville Trolley Park is also adjacent to a community garden on Brook Street, offering local residents an opportunity to grow their own produce and engage in gardening activities. The park serves as a gathering place for the neighborhood, hosting community events such as the annual Old Louisville Springfest.
The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., allowing visitors to enjoy its facilities throughout the day. Its central location in Old Louisville makes it easily accessible to residents and provides a valuable green space in this historic urban neighborhood.
