About Bremen Street Park in Boston
Bremen Street Community Park is an 18-acre urban green space located in East Boston, Massachusetts. Created in 2007, the park serves as a critical green buffer between Logan International Airport and the densely populated residential areas of East Boston. Part of the East Boston Greenway, a linear park and shared-use path, Bremen Street Community Park provides an accessible and vibrant outdoor environment for the local community.
The park features expansive grassy lawns, multiple playgrounds, and pedestrian walkways, making it a welcoming space for children, families, and individuals of all ages. Notable highlights include a granite spray fountain for cooling off during summer, a community garden, and an amphitheater used for community events. Bremen Street Community Park is East Boston’s only public dog park, which was added in 2015. This area is divided into separate sections for large and small dogs and includes agility equipment, water fountains for pets and owners, and seating for dog owners to socialize.
Accessibility is a key feature of the park—it is directly connected to the Airport Station on the MBTA Blue Line, making it convenient for visitors traveling by public transit. For cyclists and joggers, the East Boston Greenway provides smooth pathways linking different parts of the community. Surrounding facilities include the Boston Public Library's East Boston Branch, which overlooks the park, and the East Boston YMCA, at its southwestern edge.
Community activities, such as outdoor movie nights, concerts, and fitness programs, are held at Bremen Street Community Park. These events foster social interaction and bring a sense of camaraderie to the diverse East Boston neighborhood. While there is no onsite parking, nearby street parking is available for visitors who plan to spend a day enjoying this thoughtfully designed urban green space.
