Raymond Park

Raymond Park, also known as Corcoran Field, is a cherished urban green space in the Neighborhood Nine area of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Originally established in 1915 on the site of a former clay pit, it reflects the local history tied to North Cambridge's historic brickmaking industry. The park spans 2.8 acres and serves as a vital community hub offering a balance of natural beauty, recreational facilities, and relaxation spaces.

The park features a variety of amenities, making it suitable for all ages. It boasts a well-maintained playground, officially called the Corcoran Playground, designed to cater to children of all ages with climbing structures, swings, slides, and a sandbox. Families enjoy this section as it provides a safe and engaging environment for youngsters. For sports enthusiasts, Raymond Park is equipped with two basketball courts and a softball field, providing ample space for activities such as basketball and baseball. The park’s open fields and winding pathways make it an ideal location for walking, running, beginner biking, and picnicking.

Nature lovers appreciate the lush greenery and the park's tranquil ambiance, which offers a peaceful retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. Friends of Raymond Park (FORP), a volunteer neighborhood committee, organizes frequent events such as movie nights, holiday celebrations, and block parties, fostering connections among residents. Though the park is currently undergoing much-needed renovations to address signs of wear, efforts are being made to preserve its unique character while improving its infrastructure. The rejuvenation project is slated for completion in 2025.
