About Fuller Park in Ann Arbor
Fuller Park is a 60-acre community park in Ann Arbor, Michigan, located on Fuller Road near Maiden Lane, directly across the Huron River from the University of Michigan Hospital. Nestled along the river, the park is a hub of recreational and sports activities. A pedestrian bridge connects Fuller Park to nearby Island Park, offering additional exploration opportunities. The park also serves as part of a larger trail network, linking it to Cedar Bend Nature Area and the Border-to-Border (B2B) Trail.
One of the standout features of Fuller Park is its large wooden playground, which was designed and built with community involvement. The playground offers a range of structures for climbing, imaginative play, and exploration, making it a favorite among local families. Surrounding the playground are picnic tables, shaded seating areas, and grilling facilities, providing spaces for gatherings or relaxation.
Fuller Park Pool, adjacent to the playground, is a significant attraction. It features a 50-meter outdoor pool with lap lanes, a diving area, and a waterslide, open seasonally from May to September. The pool caters to all age groups, with shallow-entry ramps for young children and facilities for lap swimming and water-based activities. A Gaga pit is also available inside the pool fencing for visitors.
Athletic fields are another major draw, with several soccer fields and multipurpose fields reserved for sports such as lacrosse and ultimate frisbee; permits are required for use. The park's proximity to biking-friendly roads and trails, as well as its accessible asphalt paths, make it popular with cyclists and walkers. Restroom facilities, drinking fountains, and ample parking—both at the park and across the road—enhance its convenience for visitors.
Finally, the park’s wooded areas and connection to the Huron River provide a tranquil setting for walking and enjoying nature amid Ann Arbor’s urban surroundings.
