About Brookside Park in Ann Arbor
Brookside Park, located at the corner of Stone School Road and Baylis Drive in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a small neighborhood park designed for quiet recreation and community activities. Situated just south of Eisenhower Parkway, this park features a simple layout that includes open fields, shaded areas provided by a variety of trees, and compact recreational facilities. It became part of the City of Ann Arbor’s park system in 2005, following its acquisition from Pittsfield Charter Township. The park's play area and a distinctive split rail fence were added in 2006.
The park offers a charming setting with swings, a small climber, and a volleyball net for light recreational use. A picnic table also provides a spot for outdoor meals or gatherings. For those interested in the natural environment, children and volunteers from the area conducted a tree inventory and vegetation mapping project in 2021, showcasing the community's investment in preserving this green space. Although the park does not feature a brook as its name might suggest, nearby Mallett’s Creek flows along the southeast neighborhood corner, adding to the natural ambiance.
Brookside Park is accessible by foot or bicycle, with Stone School Road offering bike lanes and sidewalks, while Eisenhower Parkway has sidewalks only. Limited street parking is available on Baylis Drive, and public transit stops are located near the park, ensuring convenience for visitors. The park is open from 6 a.m. to midnight, inviting residents and visitors to enjoy its tranquil environment.
