Clary-Shy Community Park

Clary-Shy Community Park, located in Columbia, Missouri, spans 20 acres and serves as a dynamic community hub. The park blends recreational facilities, agricultural education, and public engagement spaces, making it a unique destination. Historically, this site was home to the Boone County Fairgrounds from 1948 to 1991 before it transitioned to its current use following a donation in 1994.

The park features the Activity and Recreation Center (ARC), a comprehensive fitness facility that includes amenities such as an indoor leisure pool and gymnasium. Adjacent to the ARC is the MU Health Care Pavilion, which hosts the Columbia Farmers Market during its season. This market connects the community with fresh, locally-grown produce and serves as a focal point for local food systems.

In addition to its recreational and market spaces, the park boasts an array of agricultural demonstration areas managed by the Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture (CCUA). These include production fields, a food forest, native habitat gardens, and an outdoor classroom for educational programs. The park also includes practice soccer fields and a playground, catering to local youth and families.
