About Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas

Craig Ranch Regional Park is a 170-acre public park located in North Las Vegas, Nevada. Situated at the northeast corner of Craig Road and Commerce Street, the park was developed on the site of the former Craig Ranch Golf Course, which was purchased by the City of North Las Vegas in 2005 using Southern Nevada Lands Management Act funds.

Construction of the park began in 2009 and was completed in 2013, addressing the need for more public recreational spaces in the area. The park's design incorporates elements of the former golf course, including open green spaces and water features, while adding numerous modern amenities for community use.

The park features multiple playgrounds centered around ponds near the southern side, offering various play structures for children of different ages. These include an enormous rattlesnake slide that emits snake sounds and a treehouse that encourages exploration. Nature play elements, such as a stream and discovery area, are also incorporated into the park's design.

One of the park's notable features is its 65,000-square-foot skate park, which provides ample space for skateboarding enthusiasts. The skate park is well-designed for both street and transitional skating, featuring ramps, rails, stairs, and several bowls. It also includes shaded areas for skaters to rest, which is particularly valuable given Las Vegas's hot climate.

For dog owners, Craig Ranch Regional Park offers three separate off-leash dog areas catering to dogs of different sizes. These areas are fully fenced and maintained, with water fountains and waste bag dispensers provided for convenience.

The park includes several water features, including ponds that attract various bird species such as mallard ducks and Canada geese. In recent years, red-eared slider turtles have also been observed in the park's water bodies.

For sports enthusiasts, the park provides multiple facilities including two lighted competition baseball fields, six tennis courts, four volleyball courts, and two basketball courts. There are also expansive open grass areas suitable for informal sports and recreation.

In October 2015, the park expanded its offerings with the addition of an amphitheater known as The AMP at Craig Ranch. This 7-acre venue can accommodate up to 8,000 spectators and hosts various events, from community productions to large-scale music festivals.

Craig Ranch Regional Park also features a community garden with 62 personal plots available for annual reservation. This allows local residents to engage in urban gardening and cultivation of their own produce.

The park serves as a venue for numerous annual cultural and music events, including the Pirate Fest, Slides, Rides & Rock and Roll, and the Las Vegas Pride celebration. These events contribute to the park's role as a central gathering place for the community.

With its diverse range of facilities and natural features, Craig Ranch Regional Park provides a comprehensive recreational space for residents of North Las Vegas and the surrounding areas, offering opportunities for physical activity, relaxation, and community engagement.
