About Ellen's Park in Reno
Ellen's Park is a 4-acre neighborhood park located in Reno, Nevada. Formerly known as South Hills Park, it was renamed in 2005 to honor Ellen Steiner, a long-time community advocate who worked on improvements to the park and served on local boards.
The park features a variety of recreational amenities for visitors of all ages. A children's playground area provides a space for younger visitors to play and explore. For sports enthusiasts, the park offers two tennis courts and a basketball court. There is also a horseshoe pit for those interested in more casual games.
Ellen's Park includes a covered group picnic area, which is available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. This makes it an ideal spot for small gatherings or family outings. The park also has restroom facilities that are open seasonally from late April to early October, weather permitting.
In June 2024, the park received upgrades with the installation of new playground equipment and soft-fall surfacing, enhancing safety and enjoyment for children using the play areas.
The park's location in a residential area makes it a convenient recreational space for nearby residents, while still being accessible to all members of the Reno community.
