Stark Park

Stark Park is a historic 30-acre public park located in the north end of Manchester, New Hampshire. Established in 1893, it is one of the city's oldest parks and holds significant historical value. The park was once part of the larger Stark family farm and is named after General John Stark, New Hampshire's foremost Revolutionary War hero.

The centerpiece of Stark Park is the Stark Family Gravesite, where General John Stark, his wife Molly, and several of their children are buried. A prominent bronze equestrian statue of General Stark, sculpted by Richard Henry Recchia and erected in 1948, stands as a tribute to his legacy. The park also features four historic cannons, adding to its historical ambiance.

In recent years, Stark Park has undergone several improvements to enhance its appeal and functionality. A gazebo-style bandstand, known as the Hecker-Hastings Bandstand, was constructed in 2009 and serves as a venue for concerts and community events. The western portion of the park includes a network of nature trails called "A Walk in the Woods," offering opportunities for walking, jogging, and enjoying nature.

The park's landscape is characterized by open green spaces, mature trees, and walking paths. It provides scenic views of the Merrimack River and serves as a peaceful retreat for local residents. Throughout the year, Stark Park hosts various community events and activities, making it a vibrant gathering place for Manchester's citizens.
