About Kaminski Park in Buffalo

Kaminski Park & Gardens is a serene outdoor space located in Buffalo, New York, situated just outside the main entrance of Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The park was established through a generous $1 million donation from Waldemar J. Kaminski, a local businessman who lived frugally but invested wisely.

The two-acre park transformed an empty lot into a green oasis, featuring winding walkways that meander around fountains, trees, and flower gardens. It provides a peaceful sanctuary for patients, families, visitors, and staff to relax and find moments of respite from the challenges of cancer treatment and hospital environments.

Kaminski Park serves multiple purposes throughout the year. In addition to being a quiet place for reflection, it hosts various events such as Roswell Park's annual Tree of Hope celebration, weekly farmers markets during summer months, and occasional outdoor concerts. The park also provides a pleasant outdoor dining area for those visiting the nearby cafes and food establishments within the medical campus.

The park's design incorporates natural elements to create a soothing atmosphere, with benches placed strategically to allow visitors to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The landscaping changes with the seasons, offering visual interest year-round and providing a connection to nature in the midst of an urban medical complex.
