Walker Park

Walker Park, located in Staten Island, New York City, is a 19.5-acre public park with a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Originally known as Livingston Park, it was renamed in 1934 to honor Lieutenant Randolph Walker Jr., a local cricket club member who died in World War I.

The park has strong ties to cricket, as it was once the grounds of the Staten Island Cricket and Tennis Club. In fact, the first national tennis tournament was allegedly played here in 1880. Many cricket legends played on these grounds before the property was sold in 1925 and subsequently turned into a public park.

Today, Walker Park remains a popular destination for sports enthusiasts and families alike. The park features a variety of athletic facilities, including cricket fields that pay homage to its history.
