About Genesee Crossroads Park in Rochester
Genesee Crossroads Park is a linear public park located along the east bank of the Genesee River in downtown Rochester, New York. The park stretches from East Main Street to Andrews Street, providing scenic views of the river and serving as an important link in the Genesee Riverway Trail system.
The park is connected to Charles Carroll Plaza on the west side of the river via the Sister Cities Pedestrian Bridge, creating a continuous riverfront experience. Genesee Crossroads Park features a riverside pedestrian promenade that allows visitors to stroll along the water's edge and enjoy the urban waterfront setting.
Originally designed as part of Rochester's downtown revitalization efforts, the park incorporates public art installations, seating areas, and green spaces. It serves as a popular spot for office workers to take lunch breaks and for residents and visitors to enjoy outdoor recreation in the heart of the city.
The park is built atop the Genesee Crossroads Parking Garage, which provides essential parking for the downtown area. This multi-level design allows the park to maximize valuable urban space while offering both parking and public recreational amenities.
As part of the ongoing ROC the Riverway initiative, Genesee Crossroads Park is slated for revitalization to enhance its accessibility, upgrade its amenities, and improve its integration with the surrounding downtown area and riverfront trail system.
