Tibbetts Brook Park is a 161-acre recreational area located in the Lincoln Park section of Yonkers, Westchester County, New York. Established in 1927, it was one of the first developed parks in Westchester County and has since become a cherished community space.
The park is named after Tibbetts Brook, which flows through the grounds and is itself named for George Tibbetts, a British settler who arrived in the area in 1668. The park's history includes a transformation from what was once partially a garbage dump and swampy area known as "The Jungle" into the lush green space it is today.
Tibbetts Brook Park offers a diverse range of natural features and recreational facilities. It encompasses woodlands, lakes, and open fields, providing visitors with a variety of landscapes to explore. The park serves as a refuge from urban living, offering a green oasis surrounded by the city.
