About Burch Avenue Park in Durham
Burch Avenue Park is a community park in Durham, North Carolina. The park is situated in the Burch Avenue neighborhood, which first appeared on a Sanborn insurance map of Durham in 1902. Local historians believe the area was named after Frank P. Burch, a partner in a real estate company created by W.T. Blackwell in 1887.
This fenced-in park features a colorful playground shaded by trees, providing a pleasant environment for visitors. The park was renovated in 2010 by Kaboom, an organization focused on building playgrounds for children in the neighborhoods where they live, ensuring that all the equipment is in good condition.
The playground includes a large play structure for older children, as well as a swing set with both standard swings and bucket swings for toddlers. Some unique features of the park include a school bus for children to climb in and pretend to drive, a bouncy horse, and a spinning pole. There are also several musical instrument walls for kids to explore and a stage at the back of the playground for creative play.
Burch Avenue Park provides a peaceful setting for families and children to enjoy outdoor activities. The fence surrounding the playground helps parents keep an eye on their children more easily. Parking is limited to street parking in the neighborhood.
