About Caraleigh Mini-Park in Raleigh

Caraleigh Park is a small neighborhood park located approximately 1 mile south of Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. The park spans 0.57 acres, providing a compact yet functional green space for local residents.

In March 2023, the City of Raleigh was selected to receive an Accessibility for Parks Grant, which will be used for universal design-focused renovations to Caraleigh Park. The planned improvements emphasize sensory play and accessibility, aiming to make the park more inclusive for all visitors.

The park currently features an outdoor basketball court with four hoops on a concrete surface. For younger visitors, there is a playground area with a wooden climbing structure, slides, and monkey bars. The playground's surface is sand, which may change with the upcoming renovations.

Proposed improvements for Caraleigh Park include the addition of a new, ADA-accessible ramp to improve park access. The existing basketball court will undergo renovations, and a new playground with safety surfacing and sensory-focused play equipment will be installed. The project also includes general improvements to the open space, landscaping, and shade provisions.

Additionally, the park renovation plans include upgrades to the existing bus stop nearby, enhancing public transportation access to the park.
