About Rabanus Park in Fargo
Rabanus Park is a neighborhood park located in Fargo, North Dakota. Situated on the site of the Fargo Project, this park offers a variety of recreational facilities for the local community.
The park features basketball and sand volleyball courts, providing opportunities for sports enthusiasts. The sand volleyball complex, consisting of 8 courts, is particularly noteworthy, boasting 18 inches of pure super-soft mason sand and considered one of the finest in the Midwest.
For families and children, Rabanus Park includes a playground area. Visitors can also enjoy picnic facilities, with tables and grills available for outdoor gatherings. A shelter with restrooms, electricity, and water is present, offering convenience for park-goers.
Rabanus Park is also home to the World Garden Commons, the first installation of The Fargo Project. This collaborative effort between artists and residents has transformed an 18-acre stormwater basin into an ecological community commons. While the basin continues to serve its primary function of holding stormwater during summer rains, it now offers additional benefits such as improved water quality, neighborhood connecting pathways, and aesthetic enhancements for the community.
The park is open to the public, with shelter rentals available from May 1 to October 1. Reservations for the shelter can be made online or by phone, with rental times from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
