About Bomberg Park in Dayton
Bomberger Park is a public recreation area located in Dayton, Ohio. The park sits at the corner of East Fifth Street and South Keowee Street in the St. Anne's Hill neighborhood. It was established in 1908 on the former estate of William Bomberger, a prominent German immigrant who served as Treasurer for the City of Dayton in the 19th century.
The park has a rich history, serving as a haven for flood victims during the Great Flood of 1913. In the 1930s, it featured a notable wading pool with a colonnade, though these structures no longer exist today. Over the years, Bomberger Park has evolved to meet the changing needs of the community.
In 2023, the park underwent significant improvements funded by the Dayton Recovery Plan and a donation from the St. Anne's Hill Historic Society. These upgrades included the replacement of outdated playground equipment with new installations, enhancing the recreational value of the park for local families and children.
Bomberger Park continues to be an important green space in the St. Anne's Hill Historic District, providing residents with opportunities for outdoor activities and community gatherings.
