About Glenwood Park in Toledo
Glenwood Park is a 16.72 acre community park located in the Greater Hilltop area of Toledo, Ohio. The park has a rich history, having been private property until 1911 when it was purchased by The Society for the Prevention and Cure of Tuberculosis as a site for an "open air" school. Following protests by local residents, the city acquired the land in 1912, converting it into Glenwood Park.
The park features a variety of recreational facilities and natural areas for visitors to enjoy. It includes both active and passive recreation spaces, catering to different interests and age groups. The park's layout incorporates both developed areas for sports and play, as well as more natural wooded sections that provide habitat for local wildlife.
Glenwood Park is home to the Glenwood Community Center, which offers additional indoor facilities and programs for the community. The park also includes Glenwood Pool, providing aquatic recreation opportunities during warmer months.
The park serves as a central gathering place for the community, hosting various events throughout the year. During the annual Old West End Festival, the Glenwood Park Bazaar takes place at the corner of Collins and Robinwood, directly across from Glenwood Elementary School, offering festival-goers a chance to enjoy local vendors and activities.
Visitors to Glenwood Park can enjoy its paved paths for walking or jogging, relax in the open green spaces, or make use of the various sports facilities. The park's diverse amenities make it a versatile destination for Toledo residents seeking outdoor recreation and community engagement.
