About Lehigh Parkway in Allentown

Lehigh Parkway is a large 629-acre public park located along the Little Lehigh Creek in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The park follows the creek for approximately 3 miles from center city Allentown to the border with neighboring Emmaus.

Established in the 1920s and 1930s, Lehigh Parkway features over 6 miles of scenic walking and biking trails that wind through wooded areas and open fields alongside the creek. The crushed stone paths meander through the parkland, crossing several bridges to access both sides of the Little Lehigh Creek.

The park contains multiple points of interest, including historic covered bridges like Bogert's Bridge, which dates back to 1841. Visitors can also explore the Museum of Indian Culture located within the park grounds. For fishing enthusiasts, the Little Lehigh Creek is stocked with trout, and the park houses the Lil-Le-Hi Trout Nursery which raises over 30,000 trout annually.

Other recreational amenities in Lehigh Parkway include bridle paths for horseback riding, picnic areas, and an 18-hole disc golf course added in 2005. The park hosts various events throughout the year, including an annual holiday light display called "Lights in the Parkway" during the winter season.

Lehigh Parkway provides Allentown residents and visitors with ample opportunities for outdoor activities like walking, jogging, cycling, fishing, and nature observation in a scenic natural setting just minutes from downtown. The park is open from dawn to dusk year-round.
