About Cedar Creek Park in Allentown
Cedar Creek Park is a 156-acre community park located in South Whitehall Township, Allentown, Pennsylvania. The park runs along Cedar Creek and offers a variety of recreational opportunities for visitors.
A significant portion of the park is dedicated to sports fields, making it the largest sports field facility in Lehigh County Parks. The park features six full-sized soccer fields and three small-sided soccer fields, with three of the fields equipped with lighting for night play. This makes Cedar Creek Park a premier location for soccer tournaments in the area, hosting many large regional events throughout the year.
In addition to soccer fields, the park also includes a full-sized competition baseball field, a competition women's softball field, and four fields for softball and youth baseball. Tennis courts and a basketball court are also available for active recreation.
The southern end of the park contains a wooded wetland area along Cedar Creek, providing opportunities for bird watching and nature study. The creek continues east of Cedarbrook Road, where there is a pond and trout hatchery.
For those seeking passive recreation, Cedar Creek Park offers picnic areas with tables along the creek, providing a quiet setting for outdoor meals. There is a 120-seat pavilion available for residents by permit, as well as a smaller picnic pavilion that can be used without a permit.
The park has undergone improvements based on a Master Site Development Plan approved in 2011. These improvements include additional soccer fields, a new multipurpose ball field, a network of walking and jogging trails, and a nature trail in the wetland areas. The plan also addresses ADA access, restroom facilities, parking improvements, and enhancements to traffic flow.
