Highland Park

Highland Park is a large municipal park located in the northeastern part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Established in 1889, the park covers approximately 380 acres and serves as a major recreational area for residents and visitors.

The park is centered around two large reservoirs that provide drinking water for the city. These reservoirs are surrounded by walking trails and scenic lookout points, offering views of the water and surrounding landscape. Highland Park features several notable architectural elements. At its main entrance on Highland Avenue, visitors are greeted by two bronze sculptures atop Ionic columns, created by Giuseppe Moretti in 1896. The park also contains a Victorian-style entry garden with fountains and reflecting pools.

For families and children, Highland Park offers multiple playgrounds, including the popular "Super Playground" and Farmhouse Park. The park also houses the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium within its grounds, making it a major attraction for animal enthusiasts.
