Chapel Street Fountain Park

Chapel Street Fountain Park is a small urban green space located in the historic Mazyck-Wraggborough neighborhood of Charleston, South Carolina. The park occupies a triangular lot at the intersection of Chapel Street and Elizabeth Street, providing a serene pocket of nature amidst the city's residential area.

Originally known as Chapel Street Fountain Park, it was renamed Vangie Rainsford Park in 2022 to honor the long-standing neighborhood association president who played a crucial role in its renovation. The park's centerpiece is a large, restored cast iron fountain that serves as its focal point. This fountain, which was once located behind the city horse stables at Hampton Park, was salvaged and placed in the park during its redevelopment in 2003.

The park is characterized by its pie-shaped layout, featuring mature live oak trees that line the perimeter and provide ample shade. Along Elizabeth Street, visitors can find secluded benches for quiet contemplation or rest. The Charleston Parks Conservancy maintains ornate plantings throughout the park, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
