About Lien Park in Sioux Falls
Lien Park is a public recreational area located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The park offers a serene outdoor space for residents and visitors to enjoy various activities.
The park is part of Sioux Falls' extensive network of over 80 parks, which collectively cover more than 3,000 acres throughout the city. Lien Park contributes to the city's 30 miles of paved trails, providing opportunities for walking, running, and biking.
One of the park's notable features is its proximity to the Big Sioux River. In fact, Lien Park is set to become even more accessible as part of a planned expansion of the Sioux Falls recreation trail. A $1.3 million donation will fund a mile-long extension connecting Lien Park to Bahnson Avenue along the north side of the Big Sioux River. This project, scheduled to begin construction in the spring of 2025, will include an elevated boardwalk area, enhancing the park's appeal and connectivity.
Lien Park serves as a multi-purpose recreational space, catering to various outdoor activities. Visitors can engage in sports such as soccer and frisbee, making use of the open green spaces. The park's location along the river also makes it an excellent spot for nature observation and riverside relaxation.
