About Bachmann Park in College Station
Brian Bachmann Community Park, located in College Station, Texas, is a versatile 42.32-acre recreational area that serves as the city's first community park devoted primarily to athletics. The park is named in honor of Constable Brian Bachmann, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in 2012 and was associated with College Station Little League as a coach, safety officer, and board member.
The park offers a wide range of facilities to accommodate various sports and activities. Its centerpiece is a collection of six lighted baseball fields, including four with 200-foot fences and two with 300-foot fences. These fields cater to both little league and senior league play, making the park a hub for baseball enthusiasts of different age groups.
In addition to baseball, the park provides facilities for other sports such as soccer, tennis, and basketball. The park's layout includes both adult and youth soccer fields, ensuring that players of all ages have space to practice and compete. The tennis and basketball courts are lighted, allowing for extended playing hours into the evening.
Bachmann Park is not just about organized sports; it also offers amenities for casual recreation and family outings. The park features a playground for children, horseshoe pits for those interested in more traditional games, and a sand volleyball court for beach-style play. A pavilion with a capacity of 300 people provides a space for community gatherings and events, equipped with a full kitchen and other amenities.
The park is currently undergoing renovations to enhance its facilities further. The project, approved by voters in a November 2022 bond election, includes improvements to the concession and restroom buildings, as well as upgrades to the dugouts and bleachers. These enhancements aim to provide better comfort and functionality for both players and spectators.
