About Owen Park in Conroe

Owen Park is a public park located in Conroe, Texas. The park covers 110 acres of land, offering a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. Formerly the site of a YMCA facility, the City of Conroe purchased the property in 2021 for $2.5 million to expand its parks and recreation services.

The park features natural terrain with hiking and biking trails, allowing visitors to explore the area's scenic beauty. A fishing pond with a pier provides opportunities for anglers to enjoy their hobby. The park also includes multi-purpose fields suitable for various sports and activities.

Owen Park is designed to cater to diverse interests and age groups. It includes a large lighted pavilion with basketball courts, offering space for group functions and sports enthusiasts. For families with children, there is a shaded play structure where kids can enjoy outdoor playtime.

Dog owners will appreciate the off-leash area for dogs, which includes separate sections for small and large dogs. This feature allows pets to roam freely and socialize in a safe environment.

The park is also home to the Westside Recreation Center, a 30,000 square foot facility that opened in January 2023. This center complements the outdoor amenities of Owen Park, providing additional recreational options for the community.
