The park was formerly known as First Street Park and is leased from the Conroe Independent School District. In 2014, it was renamed to honor Booker T. Washington, a prominent African-American educator and leader.
The park underwent significant renovations to enhance its facilities and expand its offerings to the community. The original baseball fields, concession building, and playground were removed to make way for new amenities. The centerpiece of the park is now a lighted multi-use field with spectator seating, providing a versatile space for various sports and community events.
