Heritage Park

Heritage Park in Corpus Christi, Texas is a historic site featuring a collection of twelve restored homes dating back to the mid-19th and early 20th centuries. Located in the heart of the city, the park serves as a cultural center and a testament to the area's rich history.

The oldest structure in the park, the Merriman-Bobys House, was built in 1851 and is the second oldest existing building in Corpus Christi. Many of the homes in Heritage Park are recorded as Texas Historical Landmarks, each representing a unique architectural style and story from the city's past.

The park's homes pay tribute to the ethnic diversity and cultural heritage of Corpus Christi. For instance, the French-Galvan House was once home to Rafael Galvan, the city's first Mexican-American police officer and a founding member of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). The Gugenheim House, built in 1905, is one of the few Victorian homes that survived the devastating Hurricane of 1919.

While most of the houses are not regularly open for interior tours, visitors can explore the park grounds and admire the exterior architecture of these historical structures. The park is overseen by the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department and hosts various community events, art exhibitions, and cultural activities throughout the year.

Heritage Park offers a tranquil environment with well-maintained gardens, shaded walkways, and picnic areas. It serves as a popular venue for weddings, special occasions, and community gatherings.
