Cross Timbers Park North

Cross Timbers Park is a neighborhood park located in Denton, Texas, covering an area of 70.2 acres. Situated approximately 6 miles from the Denton Square, it offers a natural retreat for local residents and visitors alike. The park features a 1.92-mile long trail system, comprising 1.17 miles of concrete paths and 0.75 miles of soft-surface trails, providing varied terrain for walking, jogging, and hiking enthusiasts.

The park plays a significant role in preserving a remnant of the Eastern Cross Timbers ecosystem, which is rapidly diminishing in the developing areas of Denton. This preservation effort is the result of a collaborative partnership between homeowners, the City of Denton Parks & Recreation Department, private donors, Denton ISD, Texas Master Naturalists, and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Opened in 2002, Cross Timbers Park serves as a sanctuary for old-growth trees and indigenous species native to the Cross Timbers & Prairies ecosystem, the primary ecological region of North Texas and Denton County. The park's diverse flora and fauna offer visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the area.

For families and children, the park provides two playgrounds with shade structures, ensuring a comfortable play experience even on sunny days. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy the basketball court and sand volleyball court available within the park grounds.
