About McAlister Park in Lubbock

McAlister Dog Park is a recently opened outdoor space located in Lubbock, Texas. The park is situated at 6007 Marsha Sharp Freeway, in the northeast corner of McAlister Park. It spans approximately 5 acres of land, providing ample space for dogs and their owners to enjoy.

The park features three distinct sections to accommodate different needs. There is a large area designated for big dogs, a separate section for small dogs, and a third area dedicated to an agility training course. This division helps ensure safety and allows dogs of various sizes to play comfortably.

McAlister Dog Park opened to the public on August 19, 2022, after much anticipation from local pet owners. The park's layout and amenities were designed with both canine and human visitors in mind, offering a blend of recreational spaces and practical facilities.

The park operates with specific hours, opening at 12 PM on Mondays and remaining accessible until midnight. From Tuesday through Sunday, it opens earlier at 6 AM, allowing for morning visits.

As part of a larger development plan for McAlister Park, the dog park is expected to be complemented by additional features in the future. These potential additions include a food truck area, covered basketball courts, pickleball courts, and an indoor sensory playground called Milestones.
