About Comanche Trail West Park in Odessa
Comanche Trail West Park, located in Odessa, Texas, is a serene, linear park offering visitors a tranquil escape from urban life. The park is noted for its paved, multi-use trail that runs 1.1 miles one-way or 2.2 miles in a loop, providing a wonderful opportunity for walking, jogging, and cycling. Beginning at the west entrance at 900 S County Road W, the trail navigates through a wooded area, offering shade and a pleasant environment not commonly found in the region. It then crosses Crane Avenue and eventually transitions into McKinney Park, concluding near the south entrance at 301 Interstate 20 Service Road.
The park features a community fishing lake stocked periodically with species such as rainbow trout, providing a haven for local anglers. Adjacent to the lake is an 18-hole disc golf course. This course, established in 2013, is well-integrated into the landscape and features dirt tees and Mach III targets, catering to both beginner and experienced players. The park also serves as an eBird hotspot, attracting bird enthusiasts to observe and document various species.
Although the park provides valuable recreational opportunities, visitors should exercise caution after dark due to the area’s proximity to homeless encampments, which some users have noted as a concern.
