About Cheatham Park in Round Rock

Cheatham Park is a neighborhood park located in Round Rock, Texas. The park spans 7.97 acres and offers a mix of natural areas and recreational facilities. It serves as a connecting point between the Fern Bluff and Stone Canyon neighborhoods.

The park features both concrete and crushed granite trails winding through its acreage, providing opportunities for walking, jogging, and nature observation. One of the park's notable features is the environmentally protected Fern Bluff Bat Cave, which is safeguarded by wrought iron fencing. Near the cave is an interesting limestone shelf, showcasing unique parallel surface fracture formations typical of the Austin area.

Cheatham Park has multiple access points, with entrances from Wildwater Way, Mountain Mist, Ancona Trail, and West Magic Mountain Lane, making it easily accessible from various parts of the surrounding neighborhoods.

The park was developed by the Fern Bluff Municipal Utility District (MUD) with funding assistance from a Texas Parks & Wildlife grant. It is named after the Cheatham family, who were Texas Rangers and played a role in shaping the state's history.
