Southside Lions Park

South Side Lions Park East is a substantial recreational area located in San Antonio, Texas. The park is part of the larger Southside Lions Park complex, which spans approximately 600 acres. This eastern section of the park offers a variety of outdoor activities and natural features for visitors to enjoy.

One of the park's main attractions is its 10-acre lake, which was created by damming Salado Creek. The lake provides opportunities for fishing and is part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Neighborhood Fishin' program. During winter months, the lake is stocked with trout, while catfish are added during the summer, offering year-round fishing experiences for park visitors.

The park features extensive green spaces and a network of walking trails, including a segment of the Salado Creek Greenway. This multi-use trail stretches 2.3 miles and offers scenic views of Salado Creek, surrounded by towering bottomland hardwood trees and natural, flowing springs that run from the adjacent hillside to the creek.

In 2010, the park underwent significant improvements, including the rehabilitation of its dam and spillway. This $3.5 million project involved raising the earthen dam, adding a concrete labyrinth and spillway, and implementing erosion control measures. These enhancements not only improved the park's infrastructure but also addressed potential flooding issues downstream.
