About Madison Park in Salt Lake City

Madsen Park is a small neighborhood park located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The park sits within the Fairpark neighborhood on the west side of the city.

Originally owned by Richard Madsen, the land was donated in June 1940 to create a safe playground space for local children at the request of parents in the community. Residents came together to construct the initial playground equipment.

In recent years, the park has faced some challenges with safety concerns. In late 2021, the park was temporarily closed by the mayor's office due to rising crime in the area. The city has since been working on plans to improve and revitalize the space to make it more welcoming for neighborhood families.

The Salt Lake City Parks Division has been considering small improvements to Madsen Park as part of ongoing efforts to enhance city parks and green spaces. Community input has been sought to help guide potential upgrades and desired amenities for the park.
