About Le Bosquet at Sunnyside Park in Alexandria

Le Bosquet at Sunnyside is a small neighborhood park located on West Glebe Road in the Arlandria area of Alexandria, Virginia. The 0.37-acre park was established in 1990 when Mrs. Joan Rhodes donated the parcel of land to the City of Alexandria in memory of her father, Maurice Le Bosquet.

Prior to becoming a park, the lot contained an unstriped parking area that was often filled with abandoned vehicles. The park now features a passive grassy space, boulders, seating areas, and a walkway. It is situated adjacent to an apartment complex within a diverse and densely populated neighborhood.

Community feedback has indicated that neighbors regularly use the park for informal pickup soccer games. In response, the City of Alexandria has proposed renovations to create a more open play area that can better accommodate this popular activity while maintaining the park's other uses. Proposed improvements include updating park signage, regrading the space to increase usable activity areas, and adding movable seating to provide flexible options for relaxation and small gatherings.

Le Bosquet at Sunnyside Park serves as a valuable green space in an urban neighborhood, offering residents a place to enjoy outdoor recreation, socialize, and connect with nature close to home. The park is open from sunrise to sunset daily.
