Skiffe's Creek Redoubt

Skiffes Creek Redoubt is a historic site located in Newport News, Virginia. The redoubt was constructed in early April 1862 during the American Civil War as part of Confederate Major General John Bankhead Magruder's defensive line on the Virginia Peninsula. It formed part of the Skiffes Creek Line, built to defend the Confederate Mulberry Island-James River flank during the 1862 Peninsula Campaign.

The earthwork fortification offers visitors a glimpse into Civil War-era military engineering and strategy. The redoubt has been preserved as a small historic site within an industrial park area. While limited in size, it provides an opportunity to view and appreciate Civil War earthworks up close.
