William Byrd Park, located in Richmond, Virginia, is a sprawling 287-acre urban park that serves as a popular recreational destination for residents and visitors alike. Established in the late 19th century, the park is situated in Richmond's Near West End, straddling both sides of The Boulevard and Blanton Avenue.
The park features three man-made lakes: Fountain Lake, Swan Lake, and Shields Lake. These bodies of water not only add to the park's scenic beauty but also provide opportunities for various activities. Fountain Lake, in particular, offers pedal boat rides during the summer months and is a popular spot for sunbathing.
William Byrd Park boasts an extensive network of walking paths and sidewalks that crisscross the grounds, making it ideal for leisurely strolls, jogging, and exercise. The park includes a Vitacourse, which is an exercise trail frequented by fitness enthusiasts year-round.
For sports enthusiasts, the park provides a self-lighted tennis complex that allows for play at any time, as well as two softball fields. Open grassy areas throughout the park are often used for frisbee and other informal games.
At the southern end of the park, visitors can find the Dogwood Dell Amphitheater and Ha'Penny Stage. These venues host the city's Festival of the Arts, offering free outdoor entertainment throughout the summer, including a popular Fourth of July celebration.

William Byrd Park operates from sunrise to sunset, with the exception of the tennis complex. The park prohibits alcoholic beverages, glass containers, and unleashed pets to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all visitors.
