Lake Meade Park

Lake Meade Park is a 67.8-acre regional park located in downtown Suffolk, Virginia, near North Main Street and Holly Lawn Cemetery. The park is situated in an urban setting but offers diverse natural landscapes, providing a blend of recreational facilities and natural beauty.

The park features a variety of outdoor spaces, including wooded areas and open fields. It is surrounded by water on three sides, with Lake Meade and the brackish Nansemond River bordering the park. This unique location creates opportunities for both land and water-based activities, as well as wildlife viewing.

Lake Meade Park offers 1.5 miles of accessible and well-marked trails that loop through mixed woodland areas. These trails, including the Lower Trail and Middle Trail, provide visitors with opportunities to observe local flora and fauna. Birdwatchers may spot species such as great blue herons, great egrets, prothonotary warblers, and various woodpeckers.
