About Riverside Park in Everett
Riverside Park is a small public space located in the historic Riverside neighborhood of Everett, Washington. Situated at the corner where East Grand Avenue meets Everett Avenue, this quaint park offers visitors a peaceful retreat with scenic views.
The park was established in 1994 through community efforts led by local residents Mary and Bob Burns. What was once a weed-covered patch behind a guardrail has been transformed into a pleasant green space. The site holds historical significance, as it was formerly the location of a bridge that crossed the Snohomish River to Lake Stevens in Everett's early days.
Riverside Park provides an excellent vantage point for observing the surrounding landscape. To the east, visitors can see the Snohomish River and the Cascade Mountain Range. The Burlington Northern Railroad, formerly the Great Northern Railroad, runs directly below the park. To the north stand three large Black Walnut trees over 100 years old, planted by the McManus family.
The park is maintained year-round by neighborhood volunteers who provide seasonal color and holiday lighting. In 2013, Girl Scout troop 42903 installed a Free Little Library in the park, adding to its community-oriented features.
