About Uplands Playfield in Kent

Uplands Playfields is a public park located in downtown Kent, Washington. The park spans 2.3 acres and is situated near the intersection of West Smith Street and Highway 167, just east of the highway and south of the Maleng Regional Justice Center.

The park currently features baseball and softball fields, which have been a longstanding fixture of the space. These sports fields are equipped with a full irrigation system to maintain the playing surfaces. Adjacent to the Interurban Trail, which runs along the eastern edge of the park, visitors can find a drinking fountain.

While Uplands Playfields does not have dedicated on-site parking, its downtown location makes it accessible by various means of transportation, including public transit, walking, and cycling. The park's proximity to the Interurban Trail enhances its connectivity to the broader Kent community.

As of 2024, the City of Kent has plans to transform Uplands Playfields significantly. The existing ball fields are slated for removal to make way for new amenities. The renovation plans include the addition of Kent's first spray park, a children's play area, and other features designed to create a more diverse recreational space for the community.
