About Oxbow Park in Seattle
Oxbow Park is a small public park located in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Spanning just under one acre, this compact green space serves as a unique attraction and community gathering spot.
The park's most notable feature is the iconic "Hat 'n' Boots" roadside attraction, which was relocated to Oxbow Park in 2003. Originally part of a western-themed gas station built in 1954, these oversized sculptures consist of a 44-foot-wide cowboy hat and a pair of 22-foot-high cowboy boots. The Hat 'n' Boots have become beloved local landmarks and a symbol of Georgetown's quirky character.
In addition to its eye-catching sculptures, Oxbow Park includes a community garden known as the Oxbow P-Patch. This garden space allows local residents to grow their own fruits, vegetables, and flowers, fostering a sense of community and promoting urban agriculture.
The park also features a small playground, providing a recreational area for children in the neighborhood. While modest in size, Oxbow Park plays an important role in preserving local history and offering green space in the urban environment of Georgetown.
