Green Lake Park

Green Lake Park is a 323-acre public park located in north central Seattle, Washington. The park's centerpiece is the freshwater Green Lake, which was formed by glaciers about 50,000 years ago. The lake covers approximately 259 acres and has a maximum depth of 30 feet.

A paved path encircles the lake, stretching 2.8 miles in length. This path is a popular destination for walkers, joggers, cyclists, and skaters. The park attracts thousands of visitors daily, particularly during warmer months, making it one of the most heavily used parks in Seattle.

The park offers two swimming beaches that are typically open during summer months, providing a refreshing escape for locals and visitors alike. Fishing is also permitted in designated areas, with the lake being stocked with trout and home to other fish species.

Green Lake Park features numerous recreational facilities, including athletic fields for various sports, tennis courts, and a pitch-and-putt golf course. The Green Lake Community Center, located within the park, offers additional indoor amenities and hosts community programs.

The park's landscape includes grassy areas ideal for picnics and relaxation, as well as a variety of trees and plants that provide habitat for local wildlife. Birdwatchers can often spot various waterfowl species on and around the lake.
