About Glover Field in Spokane
Redband Park is located in the Peaceful Valley neighborhood of Spokane, Washington, along the banks of the Spokane River. Formerly known as Glover Field, the park was renamed in 2017 to honor the native redband trout that spawn in this stretch of the river.
The park features a prominent 12-foot sculpture called "Redband Rising," installed in 2019 as the centerpiece of the newly created Redband Plaza. This artwork, designed by Chris Anderson, serves as an educational focal point to raise awareness about the redband trout and its habitat.
Redband Park includes a renovated Little League baseball field and a recently added raft and paddle launch, improving river access for recreational activities. The park is part of a larger initiative to revitalize the area, which includes the development of interpretive signage to educate visitors about the redband trout and the cultural significance of the site to the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
The park serves as a key trailhead for a loop trail that connects Peaceful Valley to Sandifur Bridge, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to cross the Spokane River and return to downtown via Kendall Yards and Riverfront Park.
