About Oscar Rennebohm Park in Madison
Rennebohm Park is a 20.12-acre community park located on the west side of Madison, Wisconsin, behind Hilldale Mall. The park was originally known as University Hills Farm Park when it was acquired in February 1958, but was renamed in 1989 after Wisconsin State Governor and Madison community leader Oscar Rennebohm.
The park features a large open-air shelter that can be reserved for events. It includes restroom facilities and drinking water access. One of the park's notable features is its playground, which includes unique equipment such as a climbing net. In August 2023, the Jeffrey Erlanger Accessible Playground was opened in Rennebohm Park, featuring a fully ramp-connected main play structure and an inclusive spinner designed to accommodate children using wheelchairs or other mobility devices.
For sports enthusiasts, Rennebohm Park offers six tennis courts, three of which are lighted for evening play. The park also includes a basketball court, multipurpose fields that can be used for various activities such as soccer, and a ball diamond. During winter months, an ice skating rink is set up in the park for seasonal recreation.
The park serves as a valuable green space in the urban environment, providing opportunities for both active recreation and passive enjoyment of nature. Its mix of amenities makes it suitable for a wide range of community activities and gatherings throughout the year.
