Fondy Park

Fondy Park is a green public space located adjacent to the Fondy Food Market in the Park West neighborhood of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The park was developed as part of a collaborative effort between local organizations and the City of Milwaukee to transform a long-vacant lot into an environmental park and community gathering space.

Opened in September 2017, Fondy Park incorporates innovative stormwater management features designed to help prevent flooding in the immediate neighborhood and keep Lake Michigan clean. The park's infrastructure can collect up to 83,000 gallons of runoff during major rainstorm events.

The centerpiece of Fondy Park is a stage where concerts and other performances can be held. The park provides a welcoming space for various community activities, including jazz concerts, spoken word events, and other gatherings. Market shoppers, farmers, and local residents can utilize the park's community-designed tables to sit and enjoy meals, play board games, or simply relax in the green surroundings.

Fondy Park serves as one of the stops on the City of Milwaukee's Lindsay Heights EcoTour, showcasing examples of solar energy, local food initiatives, and climate change adaptation. The park has evolved into a popular event venue, hosting local, regional, and national groups.

The park's design emphasizes natural elements, featuring trees, prairie grasses, and flowering plants. This green space not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the area but also provides environmental benefits to the urban landscape.
