About Caesar's Park in Milwaukee
Caesar's Park is a small urban park located along the Milwaukee River in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The park spans 3.7 acres and offers visitors a peaceful riverside setting on the city's East Side.
Originally established in the early 20th century, the park was initially called Milwaukee River Dam Park due to its proximity to the North Avenue Dam. In 1929, it was transferred to the city's parks department and named Caesar's Park in honor of Caesar Paikowski, a well-known resident of the neighborhood.
The park provides access to the Milwaukee River, with a staircase leading down to the water's edge. It serves as an entry point to the Milwaukee River Greenway and connects to the East Bank Trail, making it a popular spot for walkers, joggers, and cyclists. The park's riverside location also makes it a favored destination for fishing enthusiasts.
In 1997, the North Avenue Dam was removed and replaced with a pedestrian bridge, altering the park's landscape and returning the river to more natural conditions. Today, Caesar's Park continues to offer visitors a quiet retreat and connection to nature within the urban environment of Milwaukee.
