Eddie Kendricks Park

Eddie Kendrick Memorial Park is a small urban park located in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, at the corner of 4th Avenue North and 18th Street. The park was dedicated on October 16, 1999, to honor Eddie Kendrick, a Birmingham native and lead singer of the legendary Motown group The Temptations.

The centerpiece of the park is a bronze sculpture of Eddie Kendrick created by artist Ron McDowell. The sculpture depicts Kendrick in his prime, wearing his signature suit and microphone in hand, capturing the essence of his performances with The Temptations. Surrounding the statue are bronze sculptures of the other members of The Temptations, creating a visual representation of the group's lineup.

The park features inscriptions of some of The Temptations' hit songs along walkways, allowing visitors to stroll through and reminisce about the group's musical legacy. Speakers installed throughout the park play music by The Temptations, providing an immersive experience for visitors.

In 2013, the monument and sculptures were repaired and refurbished by the original artist, Ron McDowell, to ensure their continued preservation and appeal. The park serves as both a tribute to Eddie Kendrick's contributions to music and a reminder of Birmingham's rich musical heritage.
