Alberta Park

Alberta Park is a public green space located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at the corner of University Boulevard and 26th Avenue East. The park was developed as part of the city's recovery efforts following the devastating tornado that struck Tuscaloosa on April 27, 2011.

The focal point of Alberta Park is a large circular fountain, measuring over 40 feet in diameter. This fountain features multiple fizzing jets in the center and a ring of nozzles around the perimeter, creating an engaging water display for visitors.

In addition to the fountain, the park includes a plaza area, sidewalks, and landscaping. A pump building constructed with concrete masonry units, finished with stucco and a standing metal seam roof, houses the equipment necessary for the fountain's operation.

Alberta Park also serves as a memorial site, with plaques dedicated to honoring the first responders who risked their lives during the 2011 tornado. One plaque reads, "To Tuscaloosa's heroes, in honor of service above self," paying tribute to those who served the community in its time of need.

The City of Tuscaloosa held a groundbreaking ceremony for the park project on February 24, 2017, marking a significant step in the area's revitalization efforts.
