Fairview Lions Park is a 5.2-acre neighborhood park located in the Fairview community of Anchorage, Alaska. Established in 1985 on the site of the former S & S Apartments, this park has become an integral part of the local community.
The park features a nature-themed playground that was installed in 2013, replacing older equipment to improve safety and enjoyment for children. A prominent feature of Fairview Lions Park is its community garden, which serves as a focal point for neighborhood gatherings and fosters stronger relationships among residents.
Fairview Lions Park offers a mix of recreational amenities suitable for various activities. The park includes open green spaces that can be used for casual sports or relaxation. Additionally, it provides on-street parking for visitors arriving by car.
The park has undergone several improvements over the years. In 1992 and 1993, trees were planted using funds from a state forestry grant, enhancing the park's natural beauty. In 2007, as part of a Challenge Grant project, volunteers expanded the community pavilion, planted new trees and perennials, and refurbished the volleyball and multi-use field.
Fairview Lions Park is open daily from 6 am to 11 pm, allowing residents to enjoy its facilities throughout the day. The park's location and amenities make it a valuable resource for the Fairview community, providing a space for outdoor recreation, community engagement, and nature appreciation in an urban setting.
